Former Red Raider great, Krista Gerlich, will be named the new women’s basketball head coach according to Texas Tech Athletics. She will replace Marlene Stollings who was fired amid reports of abuse within the program.
Gerlich was the head coach of the UTA Lady Mavericks since April 2013. In her time as the LadyMavericks, she has helped turned the program around and lead them to 121 wins in her time as HC. She secured three 20+ wins seasons in her time in Arlington and led the Lady Mavericks to their 1st postseason berth since 2009 in 2017.
The Texas Tech Hall of Honor Class of 2003 member is known in West Texas for being on the 1993 National Championship team led by Sheryl Swoopes and Marsha Sharp. She was a three-time all southwest conference (SWC) selection and set the SWC record for most threes made in a career (220).
