In her introductory press conference yesterday, new Texas Tech Women’s Basketball coach, Krista Gerlich, said this was the best week of her life. Well, it got better after today.
Chrislyn Carr and Lexi Gordon, Tech’s two leading scorers from last season, entered their names in the transfer portal on Saturday. Today, they announced that they both will be staying in the 806 and play for Coach Gerlich.
The day doesn’t stop there, Gerlich’s daughter, Bryn, a guard at OK State, announced that she would be following her mother to Lubbock and play for her and the Lady Raiders. Bryn Gerlich averaged 20 ppg in HS and has been a rotational player for the Cowgirls the past two seasons. She will head to the 806 as a junior.
Earlier in the afternoon, Coach Gerlich received her first commitment as head coach for the Lady Raiders in 4-star recruit, Chantae Embry. Embry, from Prague, OK goes to Norman H.S. and is ranked as the 81st player in the class of 2021 according to espn.com. She is a 5’11 forward with a soft touch and can finish through contact. She will be a face-up power forward (PF) in Gerlich’s system at Texas Tech.

Wow! Talk about substantiating a hire. Man! I sure would have like to see what Brewer would have been able to accomplish with Krista as her coach. This is about the best correction of an error Kirby could have ever made. GO TECH!!
A great start to her coaching career at Tech. Makes you wonder about Saturday and Sunday. Wreck ’em, Coach.
