It is preseason award time in the Big 12 and the Red Raiders just secured their first.
VCU grad transfer, Marcus Santos-Silva was named Preseason Big 12 Newcomer of the Year. The 6’7 F/C is a load down in the paint and uses his size to be a force on the boards. During his two years starting at VCU, MSS averaged 7.4 Rebs and 8.9 Rebs a game. While not being the tallest big, MSS still averaged just over a block per game at VCU.
Santos-Silva figures to be the starting center for the Red Raiders this season and help fix the rebounding issues from last season. MSS is a grad transfer and has one season of eligibility remaining.
