Coach Wells has got another Power 5 transfer to commit to the Red Raiders. Duke cornerback Marquis Waters has chosen Texas Tech as his new home over Michigan State and Mississippi State. He entered his name into the transfer portal on the 14th of December.
Waters was a consensus three-star prospect out of Delray Beach, Florida. His position coach at Duke was the now-Texas Tech defensive backs coach Derek Jones. Waters figures to fit in at one of the starting safety spots with Thomas Leggett declaring for the NFL Draft.
Starting three years at safety, Waters tallied 234 tackles, three interceptions, and 21 pass break-ups. He also played over 2,000 snaps in four seasons at Duke. We are excited to see him on the field in Lubbock for the 2021 season!
