Texas Tech starting CB, Zech McPhearson, has declared for the 2021 NFL Draft. McPhearson, a former Penn State Nittany Lion, transferred to Tech in 2019.
While in the 806, McPhearson was a bright spot for the Tech defense in both years on campus. In his two seasons as a Red Raider, Zech totaled, 104 total tackles (89 solo) to go along with 3.5 TFL, 4 INTs (all in 2020), 10 PDs, and 2 FR.
In 2020, he really made strides and was named to the All-Big 12 1st team after his breakout campaign. He didn’t just produce on defense either, McPhearson returned a blocked kick in Ames earlier in the year.
McPhearson projects to be a versatile cornerback in the NFL. He has been projected to be a late Day 2 or Early Day 3 pick in April’s 2021 NFL Draft.
