It’s official, Alan Bowman will not be returning to Texas Tech. Bowman has announced via his Twitter page that he will be looking to finish his college career elsewhere. Bowman had been a starter in three different seasons as a Red Raider.
His true freshman season was in 2018 when now Arizona Cardinals Head Coach Kliff Kingsbury was leading the Red Raiders. He passed for 2,683 yards and 17 touchdowns. He only started in a handful of games due to injury but he appeared to be the future of the quarterback position for Texas Tech.
When Head Coach Matt Wells arrived at the end of 2018, Bowman still appeared to be the guy to beat. He had a pretty good start to the 2019 season before being knocked out in the last non-conference game of the season with a shoulder injury. This left him sidelined for the remainder of the 2019 season.
Bowman was still the starting quarterback going into the 2020 season. He was not the same quarterback, struggling against decent defenses. He was benched for Henry Columbi mid-season and earned his job back towards the end of the season.
Bowman has been a central figure of this program for the last three years. We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.
