The Red Raiders are back in Lubbock to face the Alabama State Hornets in their final game of 2021. For the third week in a row, the Red Raiders are Nationally-Ranked at No. 25.
The Hornets are 2-10 on their season, but their preseason schedule has been incredibly tough and filled with teams that will make the NCAA Tournament. They have played the likes of Texas, Dayton, Iowa, Iowa State, and Western Kentucky. Alabama State averages about 68 points per game and gives up 77 points per game. The Hornets’ leading scorer is forward Gerald Liddell, who averages 11.4 points per game, 4.7 rebounds per game, 1.8 assists per game. He also averages one steal and one block. The Texas Transfer can stretch the floor, and bang down low and be efficient from the free-throw line. He shoots 44 percent from the field, 73 percent from the free-throw line, and an astonishing 45.5 percent from beyond the arc. As a team, Alabama State shoots 41 percent from the field, and 29 percent from three. They average about 18 turnovers a game. Getting out in transition and scoring easy buckets will be crucial for the Red Raiders in this game.
In the Red Raider’s last two games against Gonzaga and Eastern Washington, Terrance Shannon Jr. did not play due to back spasms. It is doubtful the Red Raiders’ leading scorer will be in the line-up today and Adonis Arms will most likely take his place in the starting line-up. The game will tip-off at 1:00 pm at the United Super Markets arena and can be streamed via ESPN Plus.
