After losing Jonathon Garibay to the NFL, the Red Raiders will have a new kicker in 2022. There are currently four kickers on the roster and each of them could play a role this season. Here is the depth chart breakdown for the kickers:
Starter: Trey Wolff
Wolff has the most experience on the roster and is coming into his fourth season in a Red Raider uniform. He was the primary kickoff specialist last season. His freshman season was one of the best in program history as he hit 20/22 field goals and hit 40/41 PATs.
Backups: Gino Garcia, Landon Reeves
Garcia is a transfer from Houston Baptist and follows his former Special Teams Coordinator Tyler Schovanec to Lubbock. He hit 9/10 field goals and all 21 of his PAT attempts last season for the Huskies. Reeves is a product of Idalou High School and was impressive in spring workouts.
I believe Wolff will get most of the kicking reps this season, with Garcia as the main backup. The Red Raiders have three capable kickers on the roster and should have no issue putting points on the board.
