After being suspended for comments made to a player last week, Mark Adams has officially resigned from Texas Tech University.
In his two seasons as head basketball coach, Adams posted a 43-25 record with a 17-19 Big 12 Conference record. The team made the Sweet 16 in Adams’ first year as Head Coach.
Adams was on the Texas Tech coaching staff for a total of 10 seasons, beginning his tenure in 2013 as the Director of Basketball Operations for Tubby Smith. He was promoted to Assistant Coach in 2016 when Chris Beard was hired as the Head Coach. After Beard’s departure to Texas, Adams was promoted to Head Coach.
What do you think of Adams’ resignation? Let us know in the comments below!
Sad day for Tech. This was a result of the school not showing him the respect of investigating BEFORE suspending. They had to know that given the environment these days, suspension would make any allegation grow wings and fly, whether true or not. Shame on an institution that claims to “strive for honor, evermore”. There was no honor in the way that this was handled. Coach Adams is an honorable man, evermore.
You folks don’t understand how the world works. It is ALL politics and power. You have to ask 3 questions: 1) what is the REAL issue, 2) who are the winners and losers 3) what are the true ultimate implications. Those came from a long time congressman in DC. That’s why people study political “science”.
In this case: 1) the real issue is money to TT from BIG donors, and prestige and power and more students and….. MORE $$ to TT (yeah I said that twice) 2) the winner is the univ administration, coaches are expendable, $$ is not, comments Adams made are just the excuse and they had to reach to find those 3) TT will find another coach AND the univ will continue to get more big, new, sports training facilities donated.
Humm……just like the pirate🤔
Tech wanted someone else. It wasn’t the Bible verse.
