Texas Tech will open their 2020 campaign as 28 point favorites against the Miners of UTEP in El Paso on September 5th.

The Red Raiders have a current win streak of 8 games against the Miners dating back to 1963. They most recently faced off last year in the 806. Texas Tech defeated the Miners by a score of 38-3. The defense was the story of the game for the Red Raiders, as they only allowed the Miners to gain 131 yds of total offense.

In 2020, the Red Raiders will look to get back on track and hopefully get a full season out of the RS SO QB Alan Bowman. Bowman has been hampered by injuries while in the 806, but when he is on the field he has produced.

The defense will also look to get better even after losing the heart of their squad, Jordyn Brooks, to the NFL. They bring back Riko Jeffers and a 2nd team All-American from two years ago, Adrian Frye. The defense has more depth this season which is huge for the fast-paced offenses they’ll have to face off against.

The first game in El Paso (if it happens), should be the first step in the right direction for the Red Raiders in 2020.
