The Red Raider volleyball team opened up their 2020 campaign by welcoming in the Mountaineers of West Virginia.

Tech is looking to take that next step in the Big 12. Coach Tony Graystone and Assistant Head Coach Morgan Thomas have turned this program around from the depths of the Big 12.

The Red Raiders tipped off their season on Thursday night in a big way by sweeping the Mountaineers. Some thought Tech would struggle out of the gate due to losing one of the best players in program history in Emily Hill, but Tech debunked that quickly.

Brooke Kanas and Caitlin Dugan helped lead the Red Raiders in kills with 8 and 9 respectably. In the digs department on Thursday, the Red Raiders had three players with eight-plus digs. Northcut, Dodson, and Solano helped the backline defense for the Red Raiders in the sweep of the Mountaineers.

On Friday night, the Mountaineers came back and were able to split the two-game series with a 3-1 match win. Led by five girls that had double-digit kills and Briana Lynch with 15 kills. Crazy stat of the game was, West Virginia had five girls with double-digit kills, but the rest of the roster had one total kill.
