The Red Raiders may have just landed their starting running back of the future. Cam’Ron Valdez, a 4-Star RB from Rockdale HS in Rockdale, TX, has committed to the Red Raiders.
Valdez, a 5’10 195lbs RB, had 28 other offers from D1 programs around the country and is ranked as the #223 player in the Class of 2021. Valdez announced his Top 7 during the summer, the listed included Oklahoma State, Nebraska, Purdue, Arizona State, Arkansas, Utah, and Texas Tech. He is now the second four-star recruit in the Class of 2021 for Matt Wells and Crew. The other being QB Behran Morton from Eastland.
Valdez is his school’s all-time leading rushing leader and all-time leader in rushing touchdowns. He can get to the edge or fit in between the tackles. His ability to plant his foot and go allows him to evade tacklers and create needed separation to the outside. He is “slippery” and hard to bring down due to him always keeping his feet moving. Here is some tape from not too long ago of one of Valdez’s best games in his high school career.
Here are Valdez’s stats so far in his high school career. He’s a durable back that has proven to be able to be the featured guy over a three-year time frame.
