Mac McClung Granted Immediate Eligibility

The Georgetown transfer will play in 20-21 for the Red Raiders

The Red Raiders and Mac McClung finally got what they’d been waiting for from the NCAA, a wavier.

The 6’2 combo guard from Gate City, VA will be able to play for the Red Raiders right away. The Georgetown transfer had been productive in his two years as a Hoya, but most people know him because of his high school highlight tapes on YouTube.

McClung proved to be more than just a high school sensation, he has so far proved to be a good player at the collegiate level. In his time with the Hoyas, McClung averaged 14.2 pts, 2.8 rebs, and 2.2. asts in 26.6 mpg.

He is a versatile combo guard that can run the point and make plays on the offensive end, but he can also play off the ball and cut to the basket as well as shoot from deep. His shooting percentages weren’t anything that catches your eye, but he was the main guy that teams schemed against. At Tech, he should be the third and maybe even fourth option which will allow him to take more high percentage shots and get more open looks.

Expect McClung to play meaningful minutes and have a big role on this Red Raiders team. He just adds another dimension to the already loaded Texas Tech roster.
