Joel Ntambwe, the former UNLV transfer, has left the Texas Tech Men’s Basketball program according to Texas Tech Athletics.

This comes after Texas Tech lost to the now #10 Houston Cougars in Ft. Worth on Sunday. Ntambwe did show up to camp a bit late according to reports which made a lot of Tech media members and fans wonder if he was deciding on jumping ship.

It’s a weird time to leave considering the Red Raiders are three games in and weren’t deep in the front court. I would expect in the coming days an announcement of some kind stating that Joel is going to the G-League with his brother Jonathan Kuminga, the #1 player in the Class of 2021 and former Tech target. They’ve openly expressed a desire to play with one and another at a high level.

Ntambwe averaged 4.7 pts, 3.7 rebs, 1 ast in 13.7 mpg for the Red Raiders in the three games this season.
