Kyler Edwards Might be Leaving Texas Tech…. Again

It appears as though Kyler Edwards might not be suiting up for the Red Raiders this season after all. It has been an interesting saga for Edwards as he officially entered his name into the transfer portal after Chris Beard was announced as the Head Coach at Texas. Just a few days later, he appeared to give his commitment to Mark Adams and the new regime at Texas Tech.

Now, It appears he won’t be returning to Texas Tech. He deleted his Tweet and Instagram post about his return to Texas Tech as evidenced by the Tweet below:

Edwards also “liked” tweets by Jeff Borzello about his transfer and Jaylon Tyson committing to Texas last night.

Edwards has been a crucial piece of the Texas Tech backcourt for three years now. His return to the team excited a bunch of fans, including myself. Edwards was not only a good shooter but a great defender and excellent rebounder for a guard.

There are many reasons that Edwards could be leaving. One of them could be the potential return of Mac McClung. It became obvious last season that McClung was the number one option on offense. Edwards may want a bigger role in the offense and if he can find that somewhere else, best of luck to him. He could also potentially be following Chris Beard to Texas. Beard recruited Edwards and has been one of his biggest supporters, even when Edwards was struggling last season.

Like with the Chris Beard saga, we all just want an answer. If Edwards ends up leaving (again), best of luck to him. He was crucial to one of the best stretches of basketball in program history.
