Texas Tech Baseball Looks to Avenge Series Loss Against Baylor In Big 12 Tournament

The Red Raiders are looking for revenge. Can they achieve it?

The Texas Tech Red Raiders will be facing the Baylor Bears in the first round of the Big 12 Tournament. The Red Raiders finished Big 12 Conference Play in 3rd place while the Bears finished 6th place. Earlier this season, Baylor took two of three from the Red Raiders. This is a revenge-type game for the Red Raiders as they believe they should have won the series against the Bears earlier this season.

No one is certain who will be taking the mound from either team. My guess for the Red Raiders is Mason Montgomery. Montgomery did not start in his usual role on Sunday, as Chase Hampton got the nod in that game. Montgomery has a 3-3 record going into this game with a 4.36 ERA. I won’t speculate on who goes out for the Bears.

There is a ton of information on the batting of this Baylor team. They are led by four players that are all hitting above .300 on the season. Jack Pineda, the shortstop, leads off for the Bears. He hits .321 on the season and 33 RBI on the season. Pineda has also hit 13 doubles and three triples.

Batting second is centerfielder Jared McKenzie. He is their leading hitter, batting .380 on the season and has 126 total bases on the season, the most on the team. Andy Thomas is their best power hitter as he hit 11 homeruns this season and leads the team with 59 RBI.

The Red Raiders will be up for a test tomorrow morning, but I believe they are up to the challenge! I predict the Red Raiders take this one by a score 7-3!
