Guns Up Nation has selected Braxton Fulford as the best defensive infielder for this year’s Red Raider baseball team. Braxton recently was selected to the All-Big 12 2nd team and while his power at the plate certainly is noteworthy (13 home runs in 2021 after coming into the season with a career five in the last three seasons), his defensive prowess behind the plate stands apart.

The Junior from Monterey High School in Lubbock was recently named 1 of 17 semi-finalists for this year’s Buster Posey award given out to college baseball’s best catcher. He currently ranks 3rd in the Big 12 in putouts, has only allowed four past balls in 44 games, boasts a .986 fielding percentage, and ranks 1st in the country in runners caught stealing (18). Watching some of his defensive highlights presents a clear case that Fulford was a no-brainer choice for defensive infielder of 2021 by Guns Up Nation. Fulford’s defensive talent and clutch hitting look to help fuel a deep postseason run that ends in Omaha.
