Guns Up Nation voted Dru Baker as the Defensive Outfielder of the Year for the 2020-2021 Red Raiders Baseball Team.
Baker was also named to the All-Big 12 first team on Monday alongside his teammates Jace Jung and Cal Conley. Baker played in the outfield in 43 games this season for the Red Raiders, most of which were starts in left field.
The sophomore from Tomball, Texas flashed his glove plenty of times this season for this Tech team, consistently making highlight-level plays in left field. His season fielding percentage was .974 percent and he made just two errors on the year, according to Tech Athletics.
Furthermore, Baker was the lone constant in the outfield from game 1 to 48 this season after everyday center fielder Dylan Neuse and utility man Kurt Wilson went down with injuries. Baker battled through injuries as well this year, but he was never absent from the lineup for a significant amount of time.
Baker, Dillon Carter, and Easton Murrell will make up the Red Raider outfield heading into the playoffs, starting in left, center, and right respectively.
