Texas Tech Has secured their second win of the Lubbock Regional and will play the winner of North Carolina and UCLA tomorrow at 6 PM. The Red Raiders took care of business in their role as the road team at Dan Law Field with a 7-2 win over the Tar Heels.

Hitting

On the offensive side of things, Dru Baker and the Big 12 Player of the Year Jace Jung wasted no time putting the Red Raiders up 2-0 with a double and a home run respectively. The next hit the Red Raiders had was a double by Braxton Fulford that scored Dru Baker (walk). Kurt Wilson hit a solo shot off the rightfield foul pole. The Red Raiders broke out for three more insurance runs in the eighth with a bases-loaded walk followed by a two-run double. On the day the Red Raiders scored seven runs on eight hits, four walks, and 13 strikeouts.

Pitching

Texas Tech only saw two guys on the mound today. Montverde pitched 5 1/3 innings, striking out seven and giving up only two runs. Montverde’s line would’ve looked worse without the amazing work of Ryan Sublette. Sublette was dominant. He came into the game with a runner on third base in a one-run game. Sublette struck out the last two batters before finishing the final 3 innings. He was just as dominant in those final three innings, striking out seven in the final three innings, giving up no runs or hits.

The Red Raiders will look for a win tomorrow night to send them to the Super Regional. A loss would cause them to play Monday in an elimination game.
