Lady Raider Basketball Commit Breakdown: Bailey Maupin

Last night, Coach Gerlich and the Lady Raiders hit a home run and picked up a commitment from 4-Star 2022 Guard Bailey Maupin!

Talk about a straight-up baller, because that is exactly what Maupin is. She is the 66th ranked player in the country in the EspnW 100 Rankings. She averaged 23.3 points, 7.6 rebounds, 3.5 steals, and 3.5 assists for Gruver High School last season.

Coach Gerlich and her staff have been on an absolute tear this summer and offseason as they have gained five new transfers and new commits coming in. Maupin will be in the Class of 2022 which is only the perfect chance for her stock to rise to turn into an even better commit for the Lady Raiders.

The biggest thing that stands out about her game is her smooth and pretty jump shot. She knows how to get open for a shot and score at all three levels. She is not afraid to pull up for a deep three or drive into the lane for a midrange jumper.

She has the ball skills and strength to get to the basket and the scoring ability to make shots in the paint. Being 5’11 she is a big guard and is able to post up and use skills to score in the paint as well. She also has the hustle and the desire to make plays on the defensive side of the ball with great anticipation for steals.

Coach Gerlich and her staff should be excited for her to get to Lubbock and see the potential she has to turn into a star player for the Lady Raiders. Fans should be excited to see this team this upcoming season and over the next few years, as she is putting a team together that will certainly score points and compete for a Big 12 Championship!
