Kirsten Davis Wins her Second Player of the Week

This week, the Red Raiders competed hard in the Wildcat Invitational coming back home to Lubbock with one win and one loss. The Red Raiders scored a total of 4 goals in the two matches and played hard at the defensive end in both games. This week’s player of the week goes to Senior Forward Kirsten Davis.

Davis has previously won this award for her exceptional shot-making and this week is no different. In the first match against the Arizona Wildcats, Kirsten was able to get the Red Raiders on the board first with an impressive strike at the 48th minute. She also contributed to an assist for teammate Ashleigh Williams to help lift the Red Raiders 2-1 over the Wildcats. In the second game versus Arizona State, the Red Raiders were having to come back from three goals down. Again, Kirsten was able to get the Red Raiders started with a goal in the 63rd minute. Her teammates were also able to score again before the time expired. The Red Raiders suffered their first loss of the season 2-3.

Look for the Raiders back in action against Eastern Washington as they look to close up their preseason schedule. The Red Raiders kick off Big 12 play Thursday, Sept. 23rd against Oklahoma.
