The Red Raider basketball season under Mark Adams is underway and they could not be starting any hotter. The team is coming off a 26-point win versus Grambling and are looking to keep their win streak alive against Prairie View Monday (Nov. 15) at 7 pm at the United Supermarkets Arena.
The team is off to a great start and had some players early step up as leaders. Forward Bryson Williams leads the Red Raiders in scoring at 19.0 points per game. This is followed by guard Davion Warren who averages 16.5, guard Kevin McCullar with 16.0, and forward Kevin Obanor with 13.0 points per game. As a whole, the team is shooting 31 percent from three and 49 percent from the field. They also are a little higher than normal in the free-throw average at 72.5 percent. Kevin McCullar and Bryson Williams are holding down the fort in the rebounding department, with McCullar averaging 7.5 and Williams averaging 8.0 rebounds per game. Guard Mylik Wilson leads the whole Red Raider team in assist with 5.0 per game.
Their next opponent is the Prairie View Panthers. They are 0-4 on the season, but two of their losses came from quality teams. One of their losses is to 6th-ranked Michigan. The other quality loss they have is to Oklahoma State. The Cowboys have lost prospect Cade Cunningham to the NBA draft, but Coach Mike Boynton always has his team ready to compete by the time conference play rolls around. The Panthers are also coming off of two straight days with a game. Tonight will be their third in a row. They will be a little tired but always fired up when they can play a team that statistically is better. They will be playing like they have nothing to lose.
Tickets for the game should already be available, so go grab yourself some tickets and watch as Coach Adams leads this team to victory. GUNS UP!!
