First-year head coach Mark Adams has led his Red Raider team to a hot start. The team is 5-0 on the season and is coming off a dominant performance against Omaha. The team is also ranked 35th in the AP poll. The Red Raiders are back at home this week with another preseason game versus the Lamar Cardinals.
The Cardinals are 1-5 on the season, with their lone win coming to Wiley College. The Cardinals score 69.1 points per game while giving up 75 points per game. Their leading scorer comes from guard Jordyn Adams who averages 12.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game. The next four scorers on the Cardinals are guards who average over 10 points per game. They are similar to Texas Tech, spreading the basketball just not as efficient. Lamar is very good at getting up and down the floor, but this can cause a lot of turnovers. They average about 12 turnovers per game, so that should play heavily in the Red Raider’s favor.
In the last game, the team was without leading scorer Kevin McCullar. He averages for the Red Raiders 15.3 points per game, 6.3 rebounds per game, and 3.0 assists per game. Terrance Shannon Jr. has now been back for two games and has made an immediate impact. He averages 17.0 points, 0.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 2.0 steals per game.
This game will be at the United Supermarkets Arena at 3 pm. It is also available to ESPN Plus Subscribers.
