Managing Editor Jacob Harris spoke with Texas Tech Offensive Lineman Monroe Mills after his commitment earlier this evening! Here’s their conversation:

What about Texas Tech made you decide to make it your next home?

Mills: I love Coach McGuire and Coach Hamby! They made Tech feel like a new home.

Did you visit Texas Tech and what was the best part of your visit?

Mills: I did visit Texas Tech last weekend and it was a great time. My favorite part was the Stadium lit up in red on Friday night, it was a sight to see.

Describe Coach McGuire in 5 words or less.

Mills: Energetic, Intense, Sincere, Diligent, and Committed.

What position/ role was pitched to you by the Texas Tech Staff?

Mills: Coach Hamby and Kittley said they see me as someone who can fill the need for a left tackle.

Who was your main recruiter?

Mills: That’s a hard question I have heard from Coach Hamby and Coach McGuire frequently for the past few days!

When did you realize Texas Tech was your next destination?

Mills: Making a transfer decision is more difficult than making a decision out of high school. I knew exactly what to look for in a future home this time around. Everyone I asked about Coach McGuire said great things about him and it reassured me in what my gut was telling me to do!

What is your biggest strength on the field?

Mills: I feel I am blessed in having a big frame with long arms and this really helps when it comes to pass blocking!

What is something you’re working to get better at on the field?

Mills: I am working on keeping my pad level low since I am on the taller side it’s essential for an offensive lineman.

What is your favorite food?

Mills: My favorite food has always been lasagna as far back as I can remember.

Do you prefer corn or flour tortillas?

Mills: Flour tortillas all the way!
