The Red Raider basketball team won the physical rematch against former head coach Chris Beard and No. 20 Texas in Austin 61-55.

Tech now holds the most ranked wins this season in all of college basketball with seven.

With a lot of scarlet in the stands, the Red Raiders were led by senior forward Bryson Williams who tallied 17 points, six rebounds, and a steal. Williams gave Tech a boost with a thundering dunk with just over seven minutes to play.

The teams entered halftime tied at 28-28, while senior guards Adonis Arms and Davion Warren had three personal fouls.

The Red Raiders were 2-12 from three-point range until junior guard Clarence Nadolny hit a massive three to extend the Tech lead to 50-44 with six and half minutes remaining.

Nadolny tallied 14 points, three rebounds, and two steals despite being in foul trouble late in the second half.

The Longhorns went on a 9-0 run late in the second half to cut the Red Raider lead to 56-55 after a deep three-pointer from Texas’ senior guard Andrew Jones.

Tech held the Longhorns to a 28.3 percent shooting percentage in the contest compared to the Red Raiders shooting 36.5 percent from the field.

The Red Raiders scored 26 points in the paint compared to Texas’ ten.

Tech will continue their season against Oklahoma, which they lost to on 7 p.m. Wednesday at the United Supermarkets Arena.
