Transfer Portal Update: Two Visiting This Weekend

The Transfer Portal is beginning to heat up again with the NBA Draft withdrawal deadline passed, the players that have withdrawn and entered the Transfer Portal are now looking for new homes. The Red Raiders are now in on two of the best scorers remaining in the portal in Kerwin Walton and Cedric Henderson Jr.

I reported last night that Walton would be taking his visit this weekend and reported this morning that Henderson would be here around the same time. Both are excellent scorers of the basketball and could become immediate impact players for the Red Raiders.

I’ve done a piece on Walton, which you can find here. He’s a shooter that would most likely provide a scoring punch off the bench for the Red Raiders. I still believe that D’Maurian Williams will start at the shooting guard spot for the Red Raiders this season.

Henderson is new to our purview, but the initial evaluation of him is legit! He’s 6’6″ with a massive wingspan which allows him to play like he’s 6’8″. His physique reminds me of Adonis Arms, as he was no doubt one of the best athletes in the Big South Conference last season.

Last season, Henderson averaged 14 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game for the Fighting Camels of Campbell. Henderson also shot 38% from the three-point range. He has also taken a visit to North Carolina State. NC State and Texas Tech appear to be the two leaders for Henderson’s services this season.

Yes, there is only one scholarship remaining at the moment. I have heard from multiple sources that Texas Tech wants both of these guys, meaning one guy currently on scholarship will most likely be “processed” and enter the transfer portal.
