The No. 25-ranked Red Raiders have started out strong under second year head coach Mark Adams. The team is 2-0 going into the Louisiana Tech game on Monday night, as they look to keep the streak alive and distinguish themselves as the team to beat in the Big 12.

Tech kicked off the season at home against Northwestern State on November 7th and secured a 73-49 win. Mark Adams spoke very highly of redshirt sophomore Daniel Batcho coming into the season. Batcho did not disappoint. He led the Red Raider offense with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Senior Kevin Obanor and UNC transfer Kerwin Walton were also big contributors in the offensive performance. Tech put together a strong defensive performance, with Northwestern State going 19/67 on field goals and making less than 28% on thee pointers.

On November 10th, the Red Raiders handily defeated Texas Southern in Lubbock. Kevin Obanor and Sophomore Guard Jaylon Tyson led the team with 13 points apiece. Tech defense limited TSU to less than 23% on thee point field goals, 35% on field goals, and made the Tigers turn the ball over 19 times.

Louisiana Tech comes to Lubbock off a win against Mississippi College. The Bulldogs recorded 11 steals in the contest. Guard Keaston Willis led the team with 20 points, followed by Cobe Williams with 16 points. However, the team went 9/29 on three pointers last week.

The Red Raiders will need to continue to be the defensive basketball team that Coach Adams is known for and containing high scoring threats like Willis. Also unleashing the offensive power of Obanor and Batcho. This game also offers the perfect opportunity to further develop transfers like Kerwin Wilson and De’vion Harmon as a part of the Red Raider unit.

This team possesses all the potential to mount another run in March Madness and will only get better.
