Red Raider Baseball Welcomes Air Force

After back-to-back four-game home sweeps, the Red Raiders have a quick turnaround at home to face the Air Force Falcons. The Falcons are coming off a 1-3 series against the Navy and have an overall record of 2-5 this season. Last season Air Force went 32-29 overall with a 15-15 conference record and an appearance in the Austin regional where they lost to Texas.

Pitching

The Tuesday starter for the Falcons is Junior LHP Kyle Moats who last pitched against Oklahoma going for 5 innings and giving up 9 hits, Moats takes the mound with a 10.80 ERA. The Starting Pitcher for the Wednesday game has yet to be decided.

Offense

Air Force has three batters in particular that we can expect to see potentially make noise at the plate against the Red Raiders. Sam Kulasingam leads the Falcons with a .538 batting average in 7 games. Kulasingam also leads the Falcons with 14 hits, 7 runs, and only 6 strikeouts.

The other two notable batters are Chase Spencer and Jay Thomason who have hit three home runs with 4 hits each for the Falcons. Thomason also leads the team with 10 RBI and Spencer is close behind with 7.

Overall

While the Falcons only have two batters in their regular lineup batting over .300 of the teams the Red Raiders have faced early in the season Air Force is set up to likely be the best competition out of themselves, Western Illinois, and Gonzaga. The quick turnaround and first-night game of the season could be new challenges for the Red Raiders, though the Red Raiders will throw Bo Blessie to open the two-game series on Wednesday.
