Tech Baseball Takes on the Iowa Hawkeyes

The Red Raiders welcome the No. 23 ranked Iowa Hawkeyes to Lubbock for their last non-conference weekend series. The Hawkeyes come to Lubbock with a 10-1 season record with a win against No. 1 ranked LSU.

Pitching

The Red Raiders are expected to start Brendan Girton (2.35 ERA) Friday, Mason Molina (2.93 ERA) Saturday, and Kyle Robinson (5.25 ERA) on Sunday. Robinson gets the start after an incredible outing against Texas A&M throwing for 6 extra innings. The Hawkeyes are expected to start the Friday game with Ty Langenberg (4.91 ERA), and Brody Brecht (2.19 ERA) for Saturday, they will then wrap up the series with Marcus Morgan (4.76 ERA). The Hawkeyes enter the series with a 2.70 team ERA to compare with Techs’ 1.36 team ERA.

Batting

Entering the series the Hawkeyes have four regular batters currently batting above .300. The runaway batter of those four is Brennen Dorighi. Dorighi has started in all 11 of the Hawkeyes games and leads them in RBI at 17, is tied with Keaton Anthony (.372 AVG) and Michael Seegers (.364 AVG) for most hits at 16. Anthony also leads the team in home runs with four on the season. The Hawkeyes start this series with a .305 team batting average compared with the Red Raiders’ .314.

Statistically speaking these teams should match up quite well with one another making for a very competitive nonconference series in Lubbock.
