Former Texas Tech star QB, NFL MVP, and Super Bowl Champion, Patrick Mahomes, agrees to a 10-year contract extension with the Kansas City Chiefs that will keep him with the Chiefs through 2031. The contract is worth upwards of $503 million, making him the highest-paid athlete in sports history!
Mahomes, 24, has had one of the greatest starts to an NFL career in history. In his first true season as a starter, Mahomes threw for over 50 TD’s and was an overtime away from going to the Super Bowl. In his second year as a starter, Mahomes would battle through injury but end up leading the Chiefs to their 1st Super Bowl in over 50 years. Mahomes and the Chiefs would end up defeating the 49ers in Miami by a scored of 31-20. Mahomes was named Super Bowl MVP in the victory.
The #Chiefs and QB Patrick Mahomes have agreed to terms on a 10-year extension worth $503 million, sources tell me and @TomPelissero. He gets $477M in guarantee mechanisms and gives the ability for Mahomes to have outs if the guarantee mechanisms aren’t exercised. No trade clause
