Red Raiders Playing In The TBT

We have gone a little over three months without seeing any Red Raider basketball.

We have gone a little over three months without seeing any Red Raider basketball, but no fear from July 4th-14th Tech fans will get to see three former Red Raiders in action in Columbus Ohio playing in the TBT (The Basketball Tournament).

John Roberson

Who played in Lubbock from 07-11, were he started 120 out of 129 total games. The 31-year-old PG played this past season in the NBL for S.E. Melbourne Phoenix in Australia. Roberson averaged 20.2 PPG, 5.5 APG on 46.2 percent from the field and 43.8 from behind the arch. Catch Roberson playing for team Armored Athlete.

Justin Gray

The second Red Raider playing in the TBT who will be representing not only his alma mater but his home town of Tampa Bay Florida as he plays for team War Tampa. Gray also played all four years at Texas Tech and helped them advance to the Elite 8 in 2018. This past season overseas in Kosovo, he played 11 games and averaged 12.5 PPG, 7 RPG, and shot 46.5 percent from the field.

Zach Smith

The high-flying former Red Raider has spent time in the NBA G-League for the Greensboro Swarm and has played overseas briefly in Latvia. Smith also was on the 2018 team that played in the Elite 8 under Head Coach Chris Beard before falling to the soon to be National Champions Villanova Wildcats. Watch Smith play for team Herd That.

This is a winner-take-all tournament for $1 million dollars. Each player on the winning team will take home $100,000. The tournament starts on Fourth of July at 3 P.M. ET on ESPN
