Texas Tech starting running back, SaRodorick Thompson, has been named to the Doak Walker Award preseason watch list. The Doak Walker Award is given to the nations best running back.
Thompson, an Irving, Texas native, is one of 76 running backs across the country to make the preseason list. In his RS Freshman campaign, Thompson played in all 12 games, but only started seven games. He led the Red Raiders in rushing and found the end zone 12 times. Thompson doesn’t just get the job done on the ground though, he looks to be a complete back as he had 39 catches for 154 yds last season.
Thompson looks to become the third Red Raider to win the Doak Walker Award with the two previous winners being Byron Morris (93) and Byron Hanspard (96). Thompson will look to continue upon the success he had as an RS Freshman where he became only the eighth Red Raider freshman to lead the team in rushing.
