Texas Tech starting quarterback, Alan Bowman, has been named to the preseason watch list of the oldest and most prestigious college quarterback award, the Davey O’Brien Trophy.

The Davey O’Brien Trophy is an annual award that is given to the nations best quarterback. Bowman is one of 30 quarterbacks named to the watchlist. The Tech QB landed on the watchlist last year as well before the season started.

Bowman has played in 11 games (10 starts) for the Red Raiders and has a record of 6-5. He did get 23 TDs and 11 INTs in those games and as a freshman, was only 80 passing yards shy of the Tech single-season freshman record set by Davis Webb in 2013.

Texas Tech fans haven’t gotten to see Bowman at his full potential due to injuries sustained both in his freshman and sophomore seasons. Going into his RS Sophomore season, Bowman will look to build upon the flashes of brilliance he has had under center for the Red Raiders. His health and play will be big factors to determine what type of season Tech has this upcoming year.
