Merriweather named Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week

The former star JUCO LB makes his presence felt in first game as a Red Raider

Texas Tech starting linebacker, Krishon Merriweather, was named Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week for week 1.

Merriweather a transfer from the JUCO level, led the NJCAA in tackles in 2019. In his first game as a Red Raider, Merriweather, totaled 12 tackles (7 solo) and leads the Big 12 in tackles after week 1 and is 4th in the FBS in tackles

According to big12sports.com, Merriweather is the first Red Raider newcomer since 2000 to record double-digit tackles during a season opener.
