Going into this week, some people thought Texas Tech was struggling. Going into this series at .500, the Red Raiders were coming off of a huge sweep over Houston Baptist and were looking to keep the momentum. This team did what it needed to a struggling Texas Southern team, dominate.
Micah Dallas came out strong in his first outing since his rough outing against Ole Miss. He pitched five innings and allowed no runs. The bullpen had a pretty good game as well. Andrew Devine pitched two innings and allowed no runs as well. Both Brandon Beckel and Nick Gorby each gave up a run over the last two innings.
The bats heated up during this series, piling 29 runs on Texas Southern in just two days. Jace Jung led the team in hits and home runs. Jung hit two homers on Tuesday and one on Wednesday. He drove in nine runs in this series and will look to continue his great hitting going into this weekend’s series.
Other great performances came from Dylan Neuse, who drove in four runs on Tuesday. Cal Conley, who hit a home run Wednesday, and Easton Murrell, who had two doubles and 3 RBI on Wednesday. Chase Hampton threw three hitless innings and the remainder of the bullpen shut down the Tigers’ offense.
Texas Tech dominated an inferior opponent. The total run differential was +27 over two games, which is staggering. The Red Raiders will next take on Texas State, Sam Houston State, and Texas A&M Corpus Christi over the weekend in the Shiner Classic.
