Vivian Gray brings tremendous leadership as she returns to the Lady Raiders

One of the biggest returners for the Lady Raiders is Vivian Gray! She has been a top athlete since high school and is the leading returner for the Lady Raiders in points, rebounds, steals, and blocks.

Before Texas Tech Career

Gray started her college career at Fort Lewis College and later transferred to Oklahoma State. At Oklahoma State, Gray was named honorable mention All-American recipient by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association, both years. Across the board at Oklahoma State, Vivian Gray made her mark earning more than five awards during her two seasons. In her first season as a Cowgirl, she earned Big 12 Newcomer of the Year.

Texas Tech Career

Upon coming to Texas Tech she was again named honorable mention All-American by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association. She was the only active Big 12 player to earn the honor three times. So far at Texas Tech, she has received at least 9 honors, awards, or been on a watch list.

Vivian Gray has shown out from the beginning and I do not expect to see her slow down anytime soon. The small forward will make a tremendous impact on the Lady Raider team next year, as she did this year. Gray finished the season ranking in the top 20 of the Big 12 in scoring (4th), blocks (4th), minutes (4th), rebounding (8th), Field Goal Percentage (10th), Free Throw Percentage (11th), Assist to Turnover ratio (16th), steals (16th), and assists (17th).

It is clear to us, simply by the numbers above, that Vivian Gray is an all-around player. When she is on the court the whole energy switches. She is fast-paced, strong, confident, and a team leader. We can expect to see Gray add many more honors to her list this next year, and we can expect her to make a huge impact on our Lady Raiders. I for one, cannot wait to see her back in action on the floor.
