Yesterday, Matt Wells and co. picked up a commitment from Oklahoma standout 4-Star ATH Maurion Horn from Broken Arrow HS.
This is Matt Wells’ 6th recruit in the Class of 2022, and Horn is among the highest of those signed. Horn is classified as an athlete because he played running back and wide receiver for Broken Arrow and was an absolute monster and playmaker.
Horn accumulated over 1,000 rushing yards and 1,500 all-purpose yards with 12 TD’s total in his junior year. He is currently ranked 210th in the nation while being the 11th ranked ATH and the number 4 player in the state of Oklahoma. Horn is an electric guy with a ton of speed which Tech fans will love
I think the biggest thing that stands out to me on tape is his ability to play multiple positions. He has that receiving ability to play out of the slot or on the outside, and he has the ball-carrying skills to stick on the backfield. It is like the situation with Xavier White who was a wide receiver but moved to running back, so his skillsets will certainly make him a lethal weapon.
Watching his tape, the first player that comes to mind is Alvin Kamara and the way the Saints use him in their offense is the same way I expect Wells and Cumbie to use him in theirs. The coaching staff should be anxious to get this guy in Lubbock and start having some fun.
Look for the Red Raiders to extend this 2022 class as it is continuing to gain ground and be something to watch for next year. Red Raider fans should be excited for when this guy comes to Lubbock because I expect him to make an immediate impact from the moment he steps on campus!
