This past week the Red Raider soccer team suffered their first two losses of conference play. They played really hard and competed with both teams to the last whistle.

In the first game versus the Baylor Bears, the Red Raiders found themselves down early as Baylor scored the first goal at the ten-minute mark. It did not take the Red Raiders long to respond, with forward Kirsten Davis scoring a goal at the 38th minute. The game was tied going into halftime at one goal apiece for each team.

The second half opened up with an early score by midfielder Charlotte Teeter at the 56th minute giving the Red Raiders a 2-1 lead. Baylor was able to come back with an answer of their own with a goal in the 61st minute. The game clock is running down and the Red Raiders need to score one more goal to put the pressure on the Bears. Unfortunately, the Bears scored again in the 78th minute making the final score of the game 2-3. The Red Raiders have suffered their first conference loss.

In the second game against the Texas Longhorns, the defense was the name of the game. The Longhorns were able to strike first early with a goal at seven minutes into the game. The players were running back and forth for both teams but defense stops were made every time there was an offensive run. The Longhorns led at halftime 1-0.

In the second half, the Red Raiders again were able to stop all the offensive momentum of the Longhorns but were not able to find the back of the goal themselves. The game ended and the Red Raiders suffered their second conference loss by a score of 0-1.

Next week the Red Raiders start at home at the John Walker Complex Thursday (Oct. 7) against Oklahoma State. Their next game of the week will be on the road to Ames, Iowa to take on Iowa State. Guns Up!!
