Red Raider Soccer Improves to 11-4-2 on the Season. Jordie Harr Wins Play of the Week

Last week, Tech Soccer only had one game during the short week and it was against the Kansas Jayhawks on Friday (Oct. 22). The Red Raiders got the victory in a 2-1 fashion. It was also senior night here at the John Walker Complex and we recognized six seniors who will be graduating. Seniors recognized were Kirsten Davis, Jordie Harr, Cassie Hiatt, Jen Rose, Brittany Martin, and Sydney Malmstrom.

The game was slow and defensive right up to halftime when the Red Raiders opened the scoring gate and got on the board. The goal came from Gisselle Kozarski assisted by fellow teammate Kirsten Davis at the 43-minute marker. The score going into the half was the Red Raiders leading 1-0.

The second half opens with another Red Raider goal at the 76th minute by Kirsten Davis. This goal was assisted by fellow senior Jordie Harr. Before the game ended the Jayhawks were finally able to get on the board and the game ended with the Red Raiders on top 2-1.

This week’s Player of the Week goes to someone who not only took offensive shots but also put her teammates in the best position to score with her passing. This week’s winner is a senior midfielder, Jordie Harr. She contributed one shot at the goal and an assist to Kirsten Davis which helped lift the Red Raiders past Kansas. Being a midfielder means she also gets back on defense. The defense this game for the Raiders was outstanding giving up the only goal right before the game ended.

The team is back in action this week for their final game of Conference play against TCU here at the John Walker Soccer Complex Thursday (Oct. 28). The team makes their final push for good seeding at the BIG 12 championship in Round Rock. Guns Up!
