Our very own Jacob Harris caught up with Texas Tech Football Target and Independence Community College Linebacker Tra Wilkins. Wilkins was recently offered by Texas Tech and is being pursued by many other Universities. He is currently playing linebacker for Independence Community College, a school that was recently featured on the Netflix Documentary, “Last Chance U”. Here is our conversation:

Question: What has your recruitment been like with COVID? Will you be taking in-person visits this summer?

Wilkins: “Recruitment has been going good through COVID not as fast but good. I’m enjoying the process. I’m going to have a virtual visit of the campus because of COVID.”

Question: Who at Texas Tech has been most in contact with you and what is your relationship with them like?

Wilkins: “Coach (Kevin) Cosgrove, our relationship is great we both love the game and we both have a plan for me to play at the next level.”

Question: What other schools have offered you?

WIlkins: “Texas Tech, Toledo, UMASS, Western Kentucky, Charlotte, Syracuse, Missouri State, and Louisiana Monroe.”

Question: What are you looking for in a program?

Wilkins: “A program that can help be the best man and athlete that I can be while helping me pursue my dream to the NFL.”

Question: What skills do you bring to the field?

Wilkins: I bring leadership, Big hits, force fumbles and sideline to sideline speed.

Question: Anything else you want Red Raider Nation to know about you?

Wilkins: I will bring the Butkus award back to Lubbock within my three years there.

I want to personally thank Tra Wilkins for allowing us to talk to him. If he picks Texas Tech, he will surely make be a great asset to Coach Patterson’s defense. He even has the potential to become the next great Red Raider linebacker!
