BREAKING: Lady Raiders Earn Commitment from Emilia “Jojo” Nworie

The Lady Raiders have finalized their roster with the No. 1 Junior College Transfer in the nation. That’s right, Coach Gerlich and company have signed Emilia “Jojo” Nworie, the 6’5″ Center out of Southern Idaho.

This addition brings the team’s scholarship total to 13 and barring any unforeseen departures will complete the roster. The Lady Raiders hit a home run with this signing, bringing in an incredibly athletic post that can dunk the basketball and has the intangibles to be an immediate impact player for the team this season!

Nworie has three seasons of eligibility remaining and could turn into a star for the Lady Raiders. Currently, Ella Tofaeono and Jazmaine Lewis are the only other true posts on the roster. Both have more experience than Nworie but Nworie is more athletic than both and I believe could garner more minutes down the road, but not immediately.

Tofaeono in particular is the returning starter and will command most of the minutes with her experience and savvy post offense. Nworie will most likely start the season coming off the bench as the main center coming off the bench.

She averaged 12.5 points and 8 rebounds last season for the College of Southern Idaho. The team went 30-3 on the season and advanced to the NCJAA Tournament.

Offensively, Jojo has a solid post-game and can even step out and shoot the three. In addition to her 6’5″ frame, Nworie has a near-7-foot wingspan that allows her to get shots off over everyone!

She is one of the best running forwards on the fast break I’ve ever seen at 6’5″. She has the quickness to get in front of everyone and can finish inside over quicker athletes.

Defensively, Nworie is a force in the paint. Blocking nearly two shots per game and stealing the ball one time per game.

This addition is incredible for Coach Gerlich and the entire program! Guns Up!
