Senior Ella Tofaeono is in her second and final year with the Lady Raiders. Tofaeono stands 6’5″, hailing from Sydney, Australia, and is a veteran center of the team and the Lady Raiders’ field goal leader in 2021.
Tofaeono began her collegiate career at Midland College. In the 2017-18 season, she averaged 11.4 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. As a freshman, she earned first-team conference honors. Tofaeono redshirted the 2018-19 season due to injury. She returned in 2019 and dominated, scoring 14.6 points per game, including 60 percent shooting. Tofaeono was named NJCAA All-American Third Team, amongst a host of other accolades.
After finishing her JUCO career in Midland, Tofaeono transferred to Texas A&M in College Station, where she played for one year. As an Aggie, Tofaeono appeared in 16 games and led the team in field goal percentage. She was part of the Aggies’ 13-1 mark in the SEC and appeared in the Sweet 16.
Tofaeono transferred to Texas Tech with two years of eligibility remaining. She joined a Lady Raider team heavy in transfers like Vivian Gray and Taylah Thomas. Tofaeono was a starter throughout much of the season. She appeared in 30 games for Texas Tech, leading the team in field goal percentage, and averaging 6.0 points per game.
In the 2022-23 season, Tofaeono will be an integral part of the roster. Her strengths will be needed on both sides of the court for the Lady Raiders to be successful. Tofaeono’s size and physicality will be utilized heavily to help the team win games.
