Sophomore Guard Rhyle McKinney will be looking to build on last season’s success on the court after a breakout year in 2021. McKinney committed to Southern Methodist University in Dallas, where she began her freshman season in 2020. The Mustangs opted out of the 2020-21 season when it was still in its infancy due to COVID-19.

While in Dallas, McKinney played in 6 games for SMU. She was third on the team in scoring as a freshman, averaging eight points per game. McKinney joined the Red Raiders last season as a redshirt freshman.

In her first season with the Lady Raiders, McKinney averaged 7.8 points per game. Her highest scoring game was November 16th when she recorded 21 points, including three 3-pointers. She was named Big-12 Freshman of the Week on November 22nd. McKinney also played a key role in the Lady Raiders’ March 2nd victory over TCU in Lubbock.

McKinney will go into the 2022-23 season looking for another standout year. With the departure of players like Vivian Gray, Taylah Thomas, and Lexy Hightower, the Lady Raiders will be looking to fill some big holes in the depth chart. McKinney has all the talent of the athlete that can fill those roles. She has the skill to help the Lady Raiders win games and shows all the makings to be a future superstar
