Jasmine Shavers Brings Scoring to the Lady Raiders

Jasmine Shavers joins the Lady Raiders this season from Mississippi State University. Shavers is a Mesquite, Texas native and is one the most sought-after recruits in the country. Coming out of high school she was ranked a 4-star and No. 55 overall in the class of 2021.

Shavers enjoyed a phenomenal high school career. She was a four-year starter and a four time all district honoree, she averaged 13.4 points per game as a sophomore. She was named District 11 6A Offensive Player of the Year in her junior year. Shavers was recognized as a member of the 2020-21 Texas Class 6A All-State Team and posted a career high of 40 points to cap a play off win.

Shavers chose to attend Mississippi State University in Starkville, she redshirted last season. Jasmine joins the lady raiders with freshman eligibility. She is expected to make an immediate impact with her high scoring ability and toughness.

When the announcement of her transfer was made in January, head coach Krista Gerlich was quick to comment on the versatility she brings to the roster, commenting “She can really get to the rim or she can pull up from 15-feet and hit the jumper off the bounce…”. Shavers will likely be an immediate contributor to the Lady Raiders and an integral part of the roster throughout the season.
